We are facing an unprecedented situation in the United States due to the coronavirus pandemic. At 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, pursuant to executive order 2020-21 (Stay Home, Stay Safe), Governor Whitmer issued a “Shelter in Place” order for Michigan residents – with some exceptions – effective at 12:01 a.m. on March 24.
But sheltering in place just isn’t something the agriculture industry can do. Animals need to be fed and preparations need to be made for the quickly-approaching crop season. The executive order recognizes that many businesses cannot shut down and, as producers of food and feed products, Zeeland Farm Services, Inc. and its affiliates are exempt from the order. In summary, through these difficult times, we remain open and are committed to serving our customers to the fullest.
The ZFS soy plant in Zeeland, Michigan continues to operate fully, producing soybean meal, hulls and oil, and the new ZFS Ithaca, LLC plant of in Ithaca, Michigan is also operational and crushing soybeans and producing co-products.
