Biodiesel
ZFS also seeks to benefit its customers, community, and the environment by distributing pure soy biodiesel. We operate our entire fleet of trucks and trailers on biodiesel to lessen our dependency
on imported oil. Biodiesel is nontoxic, degrades about four times faster than petroleum diesel, and
has lubrication enhancing abilities for diesel engines.

Biodiesel, such as B2 (blend of 2 percent biodiesel with 98 percent petroleum diesel), offers many
additional benefits. A 2 percent blend of biodiesel in Michigan's diesel fuel would:
- Reduce poisonous carbon monoxide emissions by 185,000 pounds
- Reduce hazardous diesel particulate matter emissions by about 135,000 pounds
- Reduce acid rain causing sulfur dioxide emissions by more than 88,000 pounds
Biodiesel production facilities in Michigan would:
- Directly add about $32 million annually to Michigan's economy
- Directly create 80 equivalent full-time jobs
- Indirectly generate $5 million in output
- Indirectly create 355 jobs
